Shakes are an important item in our wellness toolbox. Not only are they easy to make and great tasting, but you can also use them strategically to improve your health. Having a breakfast shake a few days a week is a simple way to provide your body with more water and easily absorbable nutrients and to reduce the work of the digestive system. When you do this, digestive energy is freed up to be utilized by other parts of the body for cleanup and repair.

This is a winning combination. Blackberries are often overlooked when other berries are present, but they have the most varied sweet-tart flavor and pair perfectly with rich coconut and vanilla.

Blackberry Coconut Milk Shake

1 cup frozen blackberries
¾ cup chilled unsweetened coconut milk
1½ cups chilled coconut water
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Medjool dates

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend on a high setting for 30 seconds, then serve. Serves 1.
