HarperElixir, a new line of mind, body, spirit books from HarperOne, is front and center in Shelf Awareness’s newsletter. In addition to showcasing the five fabulous inaugural books coming from the line this fall, the issue explains the genesis of HarperElixir, underscoring the relevance and timeliness of books that focus deeply on the essence of the human spirit.
“We’ve seen a huge sea change at the interconnection of culture, wellness, fashion, transformation and new thought from retailers to retreat centers, across gender and generation,” Boutote said. “We call it hippie meets hipster–people who see themselves as spiritual, mindful, compassionate, curious who prefer the artisanal to the machine-made, who want to find truth, meaning, miracles.”
HarperOne’s Senior VP and Publisher, Mark Tauber, views HarperElixir as a natural step in furthering what the San Francisco based imprint has been doing for years. “Forming HarperElixir is an effort to zero in on a distinct category that has long been one of the cornerstones of our business,” Tauber told Shelf Awareness.
Here’s a quick glance at what’s coming from HarperElixir starting next month:
“Coloring Books for the Soul are a unique addition to the rapidly growing adult coloring book category,” said Boutote. “Bringing together the sacred elements of nature and mystical symbols beautifully illustrated in Lydia Hess’s unique scratchboard-montage style as well as the positive words throughout feels like a joyous and a soul nourishing experience.”
